Someone asked me where I bought this sweater last Saturday. And I couldn’t have been more excited to tell them that I found it at Old Navy. It’s one thing to be asked where you bought something (automatic compliment), but it’s a whole other story when you can tell them that you found it at a super affordable store. I mean, who doesn’t like sharing a good deal? In this particular case, I even went so far as to tell her which store – and on what rack! This was before I remembered that stores oftentimes switch up their floor layouts. If you’re reading this Starbucks girl – it’s on the right hand side on the third rack from the front. As of last week that is.
After unseasonably high temperatures late last week had me thinking that Spring had arrived early, I was certain the weekend would follow suit. But come Saturday morning it was cool and breezy. And by late afternoon a cluster of ominous clouds hung over the city just waiting to unleash their fury on my sunny day. Luckily I was able to enjoy a pre-rain stroll sporting two of my favorites – stripes and animal prints. Though an unlikely combination, I was able to pull them together with a muted cardigan and flats. And I can always count on my Ally McGraw-esque sunglasses to put a fun, retro twist on any outfit.
Similar to the perfect white tee, I’ve always looked for the perfect white button down shirt. Some are too long or too blousy and others are too short or too tight. This one fits just right. And can be dressed up or down. I paired it with jeans, black heels, and red lipstick for a no-fail classic look. It’s a timeless ensemble that I hope sets a precedent for the year to come.
I’ll admit I wasn’t quick to jump on the riding boots trend when it first sprung back onto the fashion scene. Maybe it’s because some women were pairing them with what looked like riding pants (did she just come from the stables?). Luckily all of those images went to the wayside when I spotted these boots. The buckles and lightly distressed leather still evoke an equestrian flair, but their clean lines and sleek style give them a more modern look. Maybe this urban girl has a lil’ country in her after all.
Though the sun still continues to shine, the warm weather has given way to cooler temps. And my love affair with white lace has carried over from the Summer months. On this particular day, I paired my white lace top with a thick, wool blazer to shield myself from the brisk air. Not only did it keep me warm, but it dressed up an otherwise casual look.
