This past year was nothing short of eventful. I welcomed my nephew into the world, helped my sister plan her wedding, and laid the foundation for what I hope is a new career path (dressed and fed). Now I’m looking forward to starting a fresh, new year. I hope you are too! There are plenty of new fashion and food ideas coming your way so be prepared. Please have a safe and fun new year and I’ll talk to you in 2012!
Well, we may not be able to get Brooklyn Decker’s mile-long legs but we can certainly get her outfit! Ever since I saw her attend an awards show in a black lace overlay dress with bright yellow heels, I’ve become infatuated with black lace dresses paired with bright colored pumps. It’s a refreshing change from the oh-so-predictable LBD. The black lace is sophisticated yet sweet. And the vibrant pumps add a fun, festive punch. The perfect ensemble to ring in the new year!

Let me tell you how cold it has been in the Midwest. Last night I went to bed with a thick, hooded sweatshirt on…with the hood up. The overnight temperatures (as well as my dad’s unwillingness to turn the heat up) have made for some chilly nights. However despite the frigid air, it’s great to be home. As expected, there’s been no shortage of baked goods, more than filling meals, and much-needed rest and relaxation.

Today I’m traveling to the Midwest to celebrate Christmas at my parent’s house. My winter clothes and gifts are all packed. And my mouth is watering just thinking of the wholesome food and delectable treats that await me when I get home. I hope everyone has a safe and joyful holiday weekend with their loved ones!
As a child, the month of December always excited me. The anticipation of Christmas (and presents), getting an extended break from school, building snow forts in the yard, and eating more sweets over the course of one month than I did throughout the entire year. Now as I’ve grown older I still look forward to this month, but for different reasons. And much simpler ones. This year I’m looking forward to spending time with family, catching up with old friends, and trying new holiday recipes. Oh, and still eating more sweets over the course of one month than I have throughout the entire year. What are you looking forward to?
